Colours for Spring/Summer 2019: Menswear
When it comes to fashion, colours carry a lot of weight. Over time and over the seasons, they are carefully analyzed and updated. This spring, the Simons team invites you to discover the colour palettes that caught the eye of today’s top designers and have painted the pieces of our menswear collections.
Foliage’s favourite colour is growing popular in every hue. Forest, mint, fir, chartreuse… Green has got everyone’s attention! We’ve got our eye on sage tones in particular, since this shade stole the show during the season’s fashion weeks.
The first palette created by our team contains a greyish and bluish green that’s broken up by shades of red, golden yellow, brown, and blue. This pairing is meant to reflect the retro aesthetic of the ‘50s and ‘60s, when there was a carefree feel towards fashion.
Our team also drew on these decades for our assortment of prints. Upgrade your formal and casual clothes with flowers, exotic plants, checks, and a mix of multicoloured stripes. Bring ‘em on!
This spring, saturated shades are coming back to electrify your closet. How do you wear them? Make your look modern by taking style cues from the latest runways for Prada, Valentino, Kenzo, and Dolce & Gabbana, where prints were boldly paired together.
Inspired by these bursts of colour, our team has delivered a selection of beyond-bright designs. First off, stripes are revisited and reworked with a bit of whimsy. Horizontal or vertical, they come extra wide and extra colourful!
Then, the team studied several artistic movements in order to create prints that are utterly original. In this exuberant aesthetic, the Bauhaus, which celebrates its centennial this year, mixes with the Memphis movement as well as pop art for a pretty punchy result!
In the next palette, our team takes you sailing on the sunny French Riviera. These blue shades, punctuated by subtle touches of red and yellow, elegantly evoke warm sea breezes. We also salute Yves Klein and its boundless blue.
As for the prints the team has planned, they’ve looked at the nautical world with a creative eye. Ships are illustrated by microprints, bright sketches, and multicoloured drawings. Work them into your casual and tailored wardrobe for a truly distinctive touch.
Take inspiration from modern streetwear and integrate neon pieces or accessories into your outfits to get your looks on point. We promise, these colours are ones you can’t pass up on when it comes to clothes this spring!
