Exclusive NV Unisex Collection at Simons
FOR THE FALL/WINTER 2017-2018 SEASON,
SIMONS PRODUCES ITS VERY FIRST NV UNISEX COLLECTION,
DESIGNED AT ITS STUDIOS IN OLD QUEBEC.
Over the past few seasons, the new gender,
or unisex trend has had an active presence in the fashion world.
Many collections are creating identical pieces for men and women, leading us towards a more global style that's open to new ideas. Importance is placed on comfort and well being without thinking about the concept of separating women and men. This removes all norms, and instead creates a love of clothing that has no limits.
There are certain international designers who have made their mark on the unisex movement, like Rad Hourani, Yeezy,
J.W. Anderson, Gucci, and even Givenchy.
Simons first approached this movement during the fall/winter
2016-2017 season by launching the Unisex Edition,
a selection made up of different pieces from our private labels:
Le 31, Djab, Icône, Twik and Contemporaine.
Following the success of the 2016 Unisex Edition, Simons decided
to create and produce its very first exclusive unisex collection of
rule-free fashion designed for men and women.
“This first unisex collection created in our studios
allows us to explore fashion’s evolution and offer something that’s completely new
with unique silhouettes and styles.”
“The collection is meant for a new generation that makes its own rules
and that shops by identifying with the clothing itself, rather than with the category,
male or female, that they belong to.”
THE UNISEX COLLECTION IS CALLED NV,
AS IN NOVA,
AND ALLUDES TO A NEW START.
The word suggests an expansion into unchartered territory with unexplored horizons waiting to be discovered. The unisex concept reflects a new trend, a new way that people live. People relate more to clothing itself than to gender categories.
Created by a team of Simons’ young, dynamic, and passionate designers
who all work in different fashion fields and have brought a fresh energy with them this fall, the collection revisits history as well as clothing’s gender-related details in order to create a hybrid.
