Rudy Bois X Simons: The Designer and His Fashion Career
Originally from the small town of Trois-Pistoles, he kept his passions a secret in order to blend in with the crowd. As an adult, he decided to turn them into a career and enrolled at
Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy in Fashion Marketing.
When he finished his studies, an internship in Paris confirmed his interest in design. After coming home, Rudy launched his eponymous brand of high-end women’s clothing. The first store to carry his line? Simons!
One thing led to another and he presented his collection at Toronto Fashion Week in fall 2014, for which he was later awarded the People’s Choice for Best Collection by Fashion Magazine. He has appeared in prestigious fashion magazines, such as Elle Canada and Dress to Kill and has also dressed many celebrities including Marie-Mai, Véronique Cloutier, Karine Vanasse, and Jessi Cruickshank. Amid all the success, Rudy decided to stop production after over five years.
Other projects have followed for the designer, including a mural at the Montreal Eaton Centre, and, just recently, a line of T-shirts featuring his drawings made exclusively for Le 31 at Simons. It’s the first time that Rudy has created clothing for men, but it’s been a huge success. Men and women have been buying up the four T-shirt styles both in store and online.
