Quilting artist Marilyn Armand's journey is a collection of experiences: a family history of passionate seamstresses; a childhood spent among fabrics, textures, and colours; and the meaningful meeting of France Verrier in 2017, an experienced quilter who's a member of the Cercles des fermières du Québec. She fell in love with the colourful art of quilting, which not only keeps the country's textile tradition alive, but also transforms local fabric scraps into ecological and practical works of art.
She drew inspiration from modern structural designs with this creation, exploring perspectives through cleverly crafted plays on colours, shapes, and textures. She therefore seeks to show how a plurality of viewpoints, when they initially take us off guard, can enhance how we tackle the issues that affect us individually and collectively.
