While studying fine arts at Concordia University in Montreal, Annie Axtell fell in love with the art of screen-printing, a printing process that is both precise and expressive. Here, the artist plays with shapes and contrasts, drawing inspiration from the wavy lines of a ribbon. She combines ink and brushwork to create movement and show the slight wobble of her hand in the image. Her colours are hand-mixed to obtain authentic, unique shades, in each print.
