Masagana means "abundant, rich, prosperous and generous" in Tagalog, the Malayo-Polynesian language spoken by the Tagalog people, in the Philippines. This word sums up the world of Lourdes Still, evoking her Filipino heritage and celebrating the abundance around her. She was seduced by the smell of spring when she came to Canada in 2009, and learned to live to the beat of the seasons while gardening in the Prairies. Over the years, the fresh flower grower expanded her garden by adding species that can be processed into natural dyes. Her budding creativity led to a collection of textiles dyed using responsibly grown plant and floral pigments. When her garden sleeps in the winter, summer lives on in her workshop as she incorporates dried and pressed flowers into high-quality fabric, infusing wearable items with colours from her land's bounty.
